All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
January 27, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm GMT
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed will screen at the Barbican Cinema 1 at 6:30pm on 27 January, followed by a talk with its director Laura Poitras.
Sonia Zadurian, curator of Barbican Cinema, will speak with Academy Award–winning director Laura Poitras about her compelling documentary about the life and work of acclaimed artist Nan Goldin, focusing on her advocacy against the Sackler family.
All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, which won the Best Film award at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, is an epic, emotional and interconnected tale told through her slide presentations, close interviews, innovative photography and archival footage of her battle to hold the Sackler family responsible for the overdose crisis.
In order to build a comprehensive image of an artist who has spent a career struggling against societal stigma and the forces that be, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed pulls together many aspects of Goldin’s life.
Also screening at the Barbican (on 21 February) Black Cyclone: Africa and Her Diaspora’s Love for the Bicycle.
